Privacy

This is a static site with no accounts, no logins and no database. It still measures traffic, and clicking a buy link still hands you to a retailer who measures rather more. Here is all of it, named.

The short version

No account to create, no newsletter sign-up, no comment system, and no form on this site transmits anything to a server.
Google Analytics 4 measures pages and clicks. You can turn it off, and the section below says how.
Clicking a buy link sends you to a retailer, who runs their own tracking under their own policy.

Analytics

This site runs Google Analytics 4 against two measurement IDs,G-GNEL9DSGN1 and G-RZWFJWWSL5. Every page loads the Google tag once and reports to all of them, which records a page view and, in the ordinary course of doing so, gives Google your IP address (used for coarse geolocation and then discarded by Google before storage), your user agent, your screen size, your approximate location, your language, and the page that referred you.

None of that is used to identify you personally, and there is no attempt here to join it to anything else. It is used to see which articles are read, which comparisons people want more of, and which links are useful.

The click events this site fires

Beyond page views, a single click listener on every page classifies each link or button you press and sends one of three custom events to Google Analytics. There are no others.

link_text is the visible label of the thing you clicked, truncated to 100 characters. link_url is its destination andpage_path is the page you were on. Nothing you type into a form on this site is ever included in an event, because nothing you type is read by that listener.

Cookies and browser storage

Retailer cookies	Affiliate networks and retailers	Set on their domain after you click a buy link, to attribute a purchase. Governed by their policy, not this one.

Everything in localStorage can be cleared from your browser's site-data settings at any time, with no effect other than forgetting your theme choice.

Affiliate links and third-party tracking

When you click a buy link you leave this site. The retailer or affiliate network then typically sets a cookie on their own domain so that a purchase can be credited back here. That cookie, and everything the retailer does with it, is covered by the retailer's privacy policy — this site has no access to it and cannot see what you looked at or bought. All that comes back is an anonymous commission line in a report.

The contact form

The form on the contact page does not submit anywhere. There is no endpoint behind it. Pressing the button builds amailto: link from what you typed and hands it to your own email client, where you can edit it and choose whether to send. Until you press send in your own mail app, nothing has left your machine — and if you never do, this site never sees a word of it.

If you do email, the message and your address sit in an ordinary mailbox and are kept for as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about. They are not added to a mailing list.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served as static files. Whoever hosts and serves those files will keep their own access logs, which normally include IP addresses, timestamps and requested URLs.

VietHoang.us is deployed on Vercel as a static Astro site. Vercel may process access logs and infrastructure data needed to serve and secure the site. Their current privacy terms are published atvercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

How to opt out of measurement

Google's own opt-out. Install theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops the Google tag from sending anything, on this site and every other.
Block the tag. Any content blocker, or a browser with tracking protection turned on, will preventgoogletagmanager.com from loading. The site works normally without it.
Clear the cookies. Deleting site data for this domain removes the _ga cookies and your theme preference.
Avoid affiliate cookies. Search for the product on the retailer's site instead of using a buy link here. You will pay the same price; this site simply earns nothing.

Children

This site is written for adults buying consumer technology. It is not directed at children, and no information is knowingly collected from them.
